UK Emergency Services Games

Something very exciting is coming to the UK next year. The first UK Emergency Services Games. It is the only combined emergency service games solely for the United Kingdom. The first of its kind will be coming to the UK on the 30th August 2020.


Mike is the founder of the games find out some more about him below:

Mike has a background in the Fire and Rescue service for just over 17 years and winning the inspirational male award in Bucks & Milton Keynes Emergency Services in 2018. He pulled a team together who kayaked over 80 miles in three days and a gruelling 12 hour non stop fire ground fitness test, raising over £50,000 in 18 months. An incredible achievement! If Mike has any spare time he likes to dedicate it by making the impossible, possible.


Along side Mike is co-director Sam:

Simon aka Sam- Has been in the branded sports and fashion industry for over 35 years, from H&M to JD Sports. He was CEO of the start up that won the in-venue merchandise rights at the London 2012 Olympic Games. As founder director alongside Mike, he brings many years of hands-on operational experience to the games.


Planning for these amazing games started in February this year, with all the venues now booked and watch this space for the schedule which is due for release very soon!


The UK Emergency Games encourage everyone to promote the games, register for events, get the family or a team together, and enjoy what will be an amazing sporting spectacle, and a lot of fun at the same time.


What are the events and where are they?

The inaugural Games are being hosted in Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes.

5k/10k Road Race – Silverstone Circuit

Angling – Alders Farm Fishery

Archery – Stoke Mandeville Stadium

Badminton - Stoke Mandeville Stadium

Bowls – Hazells Bowls Club

Clay Shooting – E.J Churchills

Cycling – Silverstone Circuit

Equestrian – Addington Equestrian Centre

Golf - 3 Locks GC, Buckingham GC, The Buckinghamshire GC

Karting – Daytona, Milton Keynes

Swimming – High Wycombe

Table Tennis - Stoke Mandeville Stadium

Target shooting – Stoke Mandeville Stadium

Ten Pin Bowling – Milton Keynes

Tennis – Bisham Abbey

Track & Field – Stoke Mandeville Stadium

Triathlon – Willen Lake, Milton Keynes

Weight & Power Lifting – Bisham Abbey


2021 plans underway for Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire.


How can I take part?

UK Emergency Services employees and immediate family members allegeable to compete in the Games from the list below, mean that these games have a potential audience of over 3.5 million people who could participate:

Police Forces Fire Services Ambulance Services Prison Service Air Ambulance Mountain Rescue Royal National Lifeboat Institution Coastguard Blood Bikers

Each discipline will have criteria set to enable fair competition for all ages and abilities, to encourage participation.


How can I sign up?

Entries to the Games will open on the website later this year. There will be a registration fee of £5 which enables the individual to then enter as many events as they want to take part in. Each event has an entry price which once paid secures a space. All of the registration and entry fees will be given to charity to support mental health for emergency service employees and families. Good news you can enter more than one event if they don’t overlap on the time table.

Good news spectators are welcome at these games and it’s free to attend, so bring your friends and family. All the organisers ask that if you can donate towards the charity to support mental health for emergency services.

In addition to presenting medals to podium finishers, a number of memorial trophies will be contested for annually. Competitors of certain selected disciplines will compete for trophies which recognise those who once served the UK Emergency Services.
