To round off our interviews for the semi-final of the Woman’s Dorset County Cup, is Poole Town Ladies First team player Kitty Norman.

Joining Poole Town Ladies almost 4 years ago, Kitty has gone from strength to strength. She started in the Dorset Women’s League reserve team where she worked hard, soon becoming a regular in the first team who play in the FA Women’s National League. What an achievement in such a short time, a totally versatile player, Kitty is able to play in any position, although she isn’t the most enthusiastic goalie.

In her time with Poole Town Ladies, Kitty has already played in the County Cup Final. Unfortunately they were defeated 11-0, so this semi-final will be a chance for Kitty and her team to demonstrate their teams full potential. Reflecting on the season so far, Kitty has admitted that it has been less consistent than she would of liked, but the team are progressing and having taken part in a few close contests recently, that have just achieved their first win of the season. Kitty is so proud of her team mates, with their dedication and tenacity. In her last county cup game, Kitty scored. Reflecting on this, she said ”I always love getting on the score sheet! Going from playing on the wing and always scoring goals, to now playing centre back, it was a good feeling to hit the back of that net. I also played centre midfield which is a position I haven't played in years, it was a good challenge.”

Beside her dedication to football, Kitty also volunteers for the RNLI, where you may have seen her on social media promoting the service. When I asked Kitty what her roll involves, she said “I have just spent the last 3 days doing the Casualty Care course which is the RNLI's equivalent of a first aid course, we are trained to a level that is just above that of an Ambulance Technician. I have also started working RNLI Water Safety team, where I will be supporting the volunteers who do the preventative work and help spread key water safety messages within their communities.”

Kitty is an outstanding role model for the local community, Poole Town Ladies and the reputation of Women’s football as a whole. Good luck to the Poole Town Ladies in their Semi-final and we hope to see you in the cup final!
