This weeks player profile is Sarah “Rocket” Plummer a striker from Bournemouth Sports Ladies.

Sarah "Rocket" Plummer

Rocket grew up with her two brothers and her dad, which encouraged her to get into football and it slowly became part of her everyday life. At 13 Rocket joined AFC Boscombe, but found that her name Sarah was popular in the team so a nickname was made “Rocket”. As she has rapid pace and was a previous county champion for the 150m sprint, hence where the nickname came from. Even now her team mates call her Rocket even though they have no clue of her sprinting past.

Rocket currently plays for Bournemouth Sports Ladies, who have have two ladies teams and both are full of talent, even though every one has to battle to gain their positions but everyone comes together like one big family.

Talking of family, Rocket also has a little girl who is also a massive fan of football already, sadly another Liverpool supporter. Rocket has set herself some goals for the season are, to permanently get selected for the first team, score at least 10 goals. After watching Rocket play against Wimborne Town Ladies looks like Rockets confidence is already shining through.

Rocket using her pace

For most of us finding the football/ life balance is hard but even harder for Rocket, as she has a little girl, luckily her little one loves football just as much as she does. Rocket has had to miss a few training sessions due to having her little one but it is all worth it when Rocket can hear “Go Mummy” from the side line. Playing football offers Rocket a few hours where she can be herself, relax and not worry about anything else.

Everyone at Green Line Journalism wish Rocket and Bournemouth Sports Ladies all the best for season and hope to see Rocket’s little girl in a Bournemouth Sports shirt soon.
