Wimborne Town Ladies were the first visitors to Bournemouth Sports this Sunday, with Sports due to play Winchester Lades later in the afternoon in the preliminary round of the FA cup.

Wimborne are a newly formed team who will be competing in the Dorset County League this year. They are coached by Sammy Watson, until recently was playing football herself. Wimborne have plenty of experienced players with a few having already played for Dorset.

Sports's team for this match was the development squad, a mix of experience and rusty returners, making this a competitive friendly for both teams ready for their first league games of the season.

Sports were dominating in the first 15 minutes but it was Wimborne who took the lead through Nicky Maidment, a through ball that Nicky poked home.

A lot of play in the Wimborne box, with sports attackers having to work hard against the experienced defence of Kayleigh Whiting and Kirby Clift.

As the first half went on Sport's striker Rocket was finding herself more and more on the ball and creating chances, but most off target.

Sports brought on some fresh legs and this started to pay off, with a few chances coming their way, Rocket managed to find herself one on one with the keeper and calming taking it round the keeper and slotting home.

In the second half, Sports had replaced their goalkeeper, but Wimborne had to work hard to get themselves in front but they did just that, again through Nicky Maidment, slotting home post the replacement keeper.

Looking like this game was going to end 2-1, both teams continued to battle hard in midfield but with no joy going forward. Sports brought on some fresh legs and this started to show as they had plenty of chances in which Wimborne had to defend.

Sports continued to press and eventually got a lucky break but just putting the ball just over, this not putting Sports off they continued to press and got their break through. Kerry scoring scoring for Sports after a well worked corner. Sports now high on confidence after levelling they went on to dominate the Wimborne half. Seeing plenty of the ball and some nice passing, Sports found Lauren Brewer running through the defence, and going through on goal, with her shot on target she slotted home.
