Typical rainy Sunday in August was the scene for Christchurch Carnival 2019, however the weather soon changed just after 10 to a beautiful Summers day. I meet up with an old colleague of mine Hamilton aka "Monty", who is part of the Bournemouth Carnival Band.

Monty and I

Monty plays trumpet in the band and has done since July 2010. Monty joined with a work colleague as he missed playing music and hadn't done since leaving school. This band are not your typical carnival band who play and march at the same time, they stop and definitely get the crowd going. This is the first time I have seen Monty and his band play, I wasn't disappointed! They all donned Spider-man suits and the conductor as Venom.

Stopping in the centre of town, the band master shouted to the crowd and showed them some dance moves for the songs they were about to play. First came Yellow Submarine and then the children's favourite Baby Shark!

During Baby Shark there were plenty of crowd pleasing jokes and kid friendly actions, this band are just the perfect way to end the carnival. If you get a chance please check these guys out, you won't be disappointed.

If you want more information, find them on Facebook as Bournemouth Carnival Band or see them at South Petherton Carnival on the 14th September, they will be donning their Batman costumes this time or if you want to seem them at a local event they will be at Ringwood Carnival on the 21st September.
